#Sonder10 – The Early Years: 2015-2017. The first three years of The Sonder Project were marked by great highs and the worst low. The story begins in Burkina Faso, where co-Founders Jason and Ashley, inspired to pay their good fortune forward, traveled with our long-time partner, buildon, to help build what became our first school. Inspired by their experience, they came home with a goal to do the most good, for the most amount of people, at the most efficient cost, and with Jason's brother Jeremy, established The Sonder Project. Our first fundraiser, was organized soon thereafter, in May 2015, which is why we are celebrating our 10-year anniversary now. Our initial focus was education, but upon experiencing the incredible burden to access clean water in Burkina Faso, we sought to partner with a community to provide clean water, and we couldn't have done it without our friends, and Sonder volunteers at the time, Ahmed and Martin.
