Peekaboo 👀 Today is #InternationalLeopardDay and we’re catching up with Clouded leopards Mingma and Pavarti 🐆🐾 Are you aware? The Clouded leopard species is native to Asia! Both Mingma and Pavarti are both 12 years of age. Pavarti arrived at your Zoo from Nashville, while Mingma called National Zoo home before arriving in Toronto. Pavarti continues to appreciate people and welcomes all with a greeting vocalization. Listen carefully! Mingma, on the other hand, is more laid back but will always come to see if you have a snack for him. Of all cats, Clouded leopards happen to be one of the best climbers! In the wild and on the IUCN Red List, their species is classified as Vulnerable due to deforestation and illegal wildlife trade which are primary threats to their sustainability. Latest data suggest there are around 10,000 leopards remaining.
