Natalka Voslakov was a legend in the Pittsburgh filmmaking scene and continues to be a PSI community favorite. One of our first shows to sell out was a showcase of her work – most of which still has not been preserved, let alone restored — until now. This year’s Kickstarter campaign will help us complete preservation work on Natalka’s film Time Capsule With True Bird Flight — the first of hopefully many to come. This is a clip from Time Capsule, a beautiful film. In it, Natalka stitches together footage she shot around Pittsburgh of herself and her friends with short clips of lovelorn sitcom heroines. “I think I’ll start smoking again,” Natalka muses on camera in one scene. “It’s more gratifying than sex.” In another scene, she tells us: “When I grew up I was real happy, because I never grew up thinking I was male or female. Maybe that’s where I went wrong.” And then: “By deep end, do you mean if I’m in love with him?” our sitcom heroine asks dreamily. What results is a film that...
