CONGRATULATIONS 🏆 to our very own Ainsley McCoy-Birk for winning the AJFHL Paige Peach Heart & Soul Award!!! ⭐️ This award is given to the player who best exemplifies the essence of Paige: perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to hockey. 🏒 In the fourth game of the season (Oct 15), Ainsley fell awkwardly near the bench and broke her ankle. After going through surgery, doctors said that she could potentially be back on the ice in 10 weeks, if everything healed perfectly. Ainsley came to every single practice, game, bus trip, and team event on crutches, in a boot, and eventually walking again, sitting on the bench at practice, and in the stands during games, always cheering the loudest. Away from the rink she shot pucks and stickhandled, and consistently worked out, maintaining her level of fitness and skill in order to return to the game. Her ankle healed as expected, and she was able to return to the game mid-January. You would never know she had missed over half the season...
