Anchors Up. The smallest state in the US had the grandest stadium opening we’ve ever seen. Nestled between classic New England streets and a gorgeous river, Centreville Bank Stadium might just be one of the most impressive in America. The whole scene was breathtaking. Two hours ahead of kickoff, the complex was already bustling with thousands of eager rhodeislandfc fans, who munched on lobster rolls, drank commemorative beer, and walked around their new home with smiles from ear to ear. At kickoff, army helicopters zoomed overhead, fireworks erupted, and the supporters’ section unfurled a beautiful tifo to match the occasion. Then, just when we thought things couldn’t get more perfect, a rainbow appeared over the field. Seriously. If that’s not a sign that the soccer gods approve of this incredible new ground, we don’t know what is.
