When crises strike and systems collapse, midwives step up —delivering essential sexual, reproductive, maternal and newborn health services that save lives. Whether during climate disasters or conflict, midwives are often the first—and sometimes only— responders for women. They remain the most effective way to prevent avoidable maternal deaths.
