“While history is crucial, the community we build for the future of democracy is just as essential.”
- Charles Bolden Jr.
Former NASA administrator, U.S. Marine Maj. Gen., and founder of The Charles F. Bolden Group, Bolden delivered Ohio State’s spring commencement address to a crowd of nearly 10,000 graduates - many of whom braved the rain with umbrellas and ponchos.
He reflected on service, leadership, and unity, urging graduates to stay civically engaged, lean into purpose, and help shape a better, more compassionate world.
Bolden also shared personal stories from his time in the military, at NASA, and on the global stage - reminding students that they have the power to rise above division and make a lasting impact.
