Students in the Philanthropy and Leadership (MNGT 411) course awarded $10,000 in grants to two local nonprofits focused on early childhood education: The Children’s Place and the Northeast Family Center. As part of the Strive to Thrive Lincoln project, students volunteered with 12 nonprofit organizations, conducted site visits and evaluated community needs. This semester's funding focus highlighted the critical role of high-quality early childhood education and how philanthropy can drive meaningful, lasting impact. “This class helped me see that the nonprofit sector needs us just as much as the corporate world does,” said Garrett Smith, senior accounting and management major. Students interested in taking the MNGT 411 course during the fall semester can apply at go.unl.edu/MNGT411. #UNL #LNK
