We used: Peonies from Holland, garden roses, French lilac, sweet peas, spray roses, carnations, yarrow⌠it was a romantic flower heaven.
Here are some tips I picked up:
Prep like a pro:
⢠Always clean anything below the waterline
⢠Cut stems at a slant to maximize water absorption
⢠For woodier stems, split the ends after cutting
Build your base:
⢠Start with greeneryâit supports your flowers and sets the shape
⢠Add structural flowers next (like lilac) to create form
⢠Keep greenery shorter than your blooms
Star of the show:
⢠Place your main flower (peony!) front and center
⢠Add a garden rose slightly lowerâitâs the supporting actress
⢠Tuck in another rose behind and one underneath the peony for a color pop
Add softness and texture:
⢠Carnations go lower, nestled next to the roses
⢠Spray roses fill in gaps with a gentle, airy feelâangle them in
