Canisius High School took gold in three events at the John Bennett Regatta at the West Side Rowing Club on Sunday.
The Crusaders’ efforts were punctuated by the Varsity Eight (above) which won by open water over E.L. Crossley (Ontario), a crew comprised of multiple Canadian Scholastic National champions.
The crew of Liam Feeney ’25, Isaiah Aljuwani ’25, Meer Renschler Pandey ’25, Ethan Pirigyi ’26, Trevor Wierzbowski ’25, Brodie Vitko ’27, Oliver Reynolds ’26, Kohler Stewart ’25 and Noah Rajecki ’25 took control of the race from the opening strokes and led wire to wire ahead of Crossley, Pittsford Rowing Club, Upper Canada College and the Canisius Second Varsity Eight.
Prior to the Eight race, the Crusader Varsity Four of Feeney, Aljuwani, Renschler Pandey, Pirigyi and coxswain Cole Skowron ’27 won by 4.5 seconds over E.L. Crossley, with Pittsford and UCC rounding out the final.
