Thirty-four students gained hands-on communication, persuasion and problem-solving experience competing for $5,000 in scholarships during the Center for Sales Excellence's annual Team Role-Play Competition.
When Colin Herdzina and Brandt Munson met two years ago after Herdzina played baseball with Munson’s brother, they had no idea they would end up earning first place in the competition after reconnecting in college. The juniors from Omaha - Herdzina a finance and economics major, and Munson an management and marketing major - earned first place and a $2,000 scholarship.
"Colin's ability to build rapport and take in what the buyer's saying and then summarize it quickly was definitely an advantage for us. He followed up with questions specifically tailored to what the center offers and the benefits of being an industry partner," Munson said. "No matter what students do in the future, they will be selling a product or service, a business or their ideas."
