Welcome Home. How many times have we seen that slogan crossing the border into Maine? This time it rang even more true. The first uslleagueone home match at Fitzy. One we’d dreamed of for years, yet all the fantasies still couldn’t match the real thing. Even the weather dressed up for the occasion. Foggy, rainy, muddy… Maine-y. From marching across the highway overpass, down the trees, and into the stands with the dirigounion, it all felt so effortlessly natural. So perfectly right. Buzzing beer garden at one end, kids playground in the other, and two absolutely packed stands on the sidelines showing us what it means to lead with your heart. The chants were deafening, incessant, hypnotic. They even made Maine Governor Janet Mills get to her feet and chirp at a Knoxville player that crashed right in front of her seat. Proper stuff. Minutes later, we were all collectively losing it after Masashi Wada opened the Hearts account at this new home. It didn’t even feel real. What an unbelieva...
