In honor of the 71st anniversary of Sir Roger Bannister breaking the 4 minute mile barrier on May 6, 1954, and 51 years since Greg Gibson became the first uwtrack athlete to do so, here are the six new Huskies who broke 4 minutes in 2025 in chronological order wearing a UW uniform* (disclaimer: some pictured have broken 4 before coming to the UW):

Slide 7: Martin Barco, 3:57.26, 1/31
This brings the number of Huskies who have broken 4 minutes in the mile to 2️⃣7️⃣, with 2️⃣1️⃣ having broken 4 since Andy Powell became the Husky men’s coach at the start of the 2018-19 school year.
*Nathan Neil, who redshirted during the indoor season, ran 3:57.12 on 1/31, and is listed in the results as competing unattached.
