A whopping 95% of the food we eat comes from soil, and one-third of soils are already degraded — meaning many foods aren’t as rich in vitamins and minerals as they were 70 years ago according to fao. And growing healthy crops isn’t soil’s only job — soil also helps filter water, stores carbon and protects biodiversity. So, how do we help protect such a vital resource from deteriorating?
That’s where regenerative agriculture comes in. 🌱 This idea generally refers to holistic land practices that improve soil health, sequester carbon, and increase biodiversity and ecosystem health and resiliency — and many of these practices were started by and continue to be used today by Indigenous communities around the world.
