My how things have changed. In 1995, Auburn partnered with Anders Bookstore (RIP) for a second set of hats to be worn during the season. The new alternate hats were dubbed "weekend special" caps to be worn during all weekend games throughout the year. The new hats were designed to "look like the Detroit Tigers road hats with a navy crown and an orange bill," the Anniston Star reported. Anders Bookstore would cover the cost of the hats in exchange for the exclusive rights to sell the ballcap in their stores. The primary cap was the same design but featured a navy bill matching the navy crown.
