Book review: Optical Vortices
Yuanjie Yang, Yu-Xuan Ren and Carmelo Rosales-Guzmán | Review by Daniela Dragoman
This book offers a complete presentation of optical vortices, from theory to applications. After a brief introduction and an overview of typical vortex beams, their generation and measurement techniques are presented in the first three chapters. The next four chapters are dedicated to more specialized types of optical vortices, while the next two chapters deal with optical methods for their generation. The applications of vortex beams in optical communications, trapping, biomedical imaging and metrology are then discussed in separate chapters, and the book ends with a look at the future perspectives of optical vortices.
The book is well written and accessible, with abundant references supplied at the end of each chapter. Therefore, it is recommended to anyone interested in the latest advances in the area.
