Emily Carder and Sophia Gibby met as first-year hallmates. Both felt nervous in their transition to college but were embraced by the supportive and welcoming community on Grounds. As fourth-year students, Emily and “Gibby” ran a 50K ultramarathon trail race together, which required intense training that brought the friends even closer. Running together has allowed them to reflect on their time at UVA, an experience they agree has been “truly remarkable.” #UVA25
