Remembering Jim Dent | Jim Dent, a standout on the pgatourchampions and one of the game’s longest hitters, passed away last week at the age of 85. In August 1996, Dent captured his 10th senior tour title at the Bank of Boston Classic at Nashawtuc Country Club (Concord, MA), rallying to shoot 5-under 67 in the final round and capping it off with a clutch 5-foot putt on the 18th. Dent won 12 times on the PGA Tour Champions and was best known for frequently driving the ball over 300 yards, an extraordinary feat in the era of steel-and-persimmon clubs. He also claimed the first World Long Drive Championship in 1974. Growing up in Augusta, Georgia, he caddied at both Augusta Country Club and Augusta National, once carrying the bag of President Dwight D. Eisenhower.
