“Like an eagle that stirs up its nest, that flutters over its young, spreading out its wings, catching them, bearing them on its pinions, the Lord alone guided him, no foreign god was with him.” -Deuteronomy 32:11-12 While God has provided for us, blessed us with life, hope, gifts, love, community, belonging, and worth, He is also there to stir us up, to send us out. Here, Moses describes how God stirred Israel up to aspire after liberty, carried them out of bondage, and led them through the wilderness. This was all God’s doing, not the power of any man, nor was there some strange god that contributed. Such as it is today: God is calling His children to go out among the nations, declare His name among the nations, to love boldly, to carry His gospel to the ends of the earth. Leaving the nest is scary. It requires trust, obedience, and courage. But even as we are sent, we are never alone.
