In honor of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month, we’re spotlighting Angelo Soriano — a cherished member of our Joffrey Ballet School community. Angelo is a year-round and summer faculty member who recently collaborated with Artistic Director Angelica Stiskin as the Director of Photography/Editor for the film project, What’s Inside?, featuring our 2025 NYC Jazz & Contemporary Trainee graduates. What’s Inside? is a visceral meditation on memory, identity, and the dissonance found within self-discovery. The film unfolds in two distinct sections, each a reflection of the inner world of a spirit grappling with the tension between past and future. The film paints a journey through vulnerability and strength, where time folds in on itself and resilience becomes the only constant. Even as defeat lingers in the mind, the will to fight, to move, to seek, to exist fully... lives on. It was a gift to experience four years together, sharing and growing our love of this art ...
