Schutt is rolling out a new helmet model this season - the Schutt F7 Pro. The base F7 has been used on the field since 2017, with an updated 2.0 edition in 2022. The original design featured "Tektonic plates" on the top. The removable plates were designed to absorb energy during impacts. The new F7 Pro replaces the plates with an integrated "Tektonic Mohawk" to create a smoother shell aesthetic. The contours of the helmet shell have also been adjusted to a rounder shell. The previous design had unique ridges that would interrupt the placement of team decals. The facemask and chinstrap screw locations have also been tweaked a little bit, with a new Oakley visor being created specifically for this helmet with the visor tabs being placed on the outside of the masks. The F7 Pro has only recently been made available to the public for purchase. Some schools tested the new helmet during spring camp, though Auburn was not among them.
