Behind the scenes in collections! 🏛️ During a recent exhibition rotation, our team replaced a Sámi doll and cradle—using the opportunity to hone their archival box-making skills. Box-making is an essential part of collections care, ensuring objects are safely stored for generations to come.
🔎 About the artifact: This exquisite Sámi doll rests in a traditional leather cradle known as a Komse, crafted from cotton, felt, leather, wool, acrylic paint, and wood. Donated in 1980 by Gunnar Norin, it once belonged to his wife, who was from Kiruna, Sweden.
