Here’s a note from Chief Curator Leslie Anderson about some exciting new acquisitions from the special exhibition: “We actively acquired objects for the NNM’s collection during the development (and shortly after the opening) of “Nordic Utopia? African Americans in the 20th Century.” In total, nine items were accessioned. They include oil paintings by Clifford Jackson and Ronald Burns, a stretched textile by Howard Smith for Vallila and an oral history interview conducted with one of Smith’s relatives, three issues of Ebony magazine, and two vinyl records of music by Dexter Gordon and Duke Jordan.
