San Diego kicked off their inaugural home match on Saturday with a scoreless tie. Fans began the day with tailgating and once the stadium gates opened, they started filling the seats. The San Diego FC supporters’ group, La Frontera, played their drums and sang chants. What was supposed to be a celebratory night ended in disappointment when, just minutes before the game ended, fans were chanting a homophobic slur.
