Now on display, check out Butterfly Pavilion’s Giant Malaysian Stick Insects! As some of the longest insects in the world, these slender creatures can grow over 21 inches long. Their camouflage helps them resemble twigs or sticks in their native habitats, hiding them from predators like birds and lizards. To make their disguise even more convincing, they sway slowly back and forth to mimic branches moving in the wind. When these stick insects feel threatened, they also drop their eggs to the ground — which you can see in this video! #StickInsect #Camouflage #Insect #Invertebrate #ButterflyPavilion
