The crash happened just before 11 p.m. Saturday, May 3, on Alabama Highway 5 near the 84-mile marker. Willie T. Wills of Moundville was fatally injured when the car he was driving, trying to evade the police, smashed into an SUV being driven by a 41-year-old man from Brent. Wills, who was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and two juvenile passengers of the SUV were injured and taken to local hospitals for medical treatment.
