We join the masses in mourning the loss of Grizzly 1058, one of Grizzly 399's offspring, who tragically died by a vehicle strike this week in Grand Teton National Park. Just months ago, beloved Grizzly 399 (pictured) was also killed by a vehicle strike. Some actions we can take to protect grizzly bears: Slow down when driving through their habitat and advocating for connectivity cooridors and their protection. Sadly, beyond the park's protective boundaries grizzly bears are back in the crosshairs. Though the Fish and Wildlife Service recently denied state petitions to strip their federal safeguards, it also proposed new rules giving state agencies and landowners more leeway to kill them. Join us in urging the USFWS to keep protections in place in recovery zones and connectivity corridors — and not to pass any grizzly-killing rules.
