We should not live like the world, conformed to sin and fleshly desires. Rather seek after eternal pleasures, seek after the living God. Surrender to His will leads to love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Not only are we commanded to follow His will, but having been transformed, we desire to follow. The world demands its own patterns: self-exaltation, instant gratification, compromise.
