HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY! She didn’t have a roadmap — just a urgent yet steady love for her daughter. When my parents learned I was hard of hearing, my mama was handed a DIAGNOSIS, not a guidebook. There were no Instagram communities, no texting audiologists, no plug-and-play parenting tools. It was scary, overwhelming, and full of unknowns. But she showed up. Again and again. With the tools she had, she sought out resources for access, for answers, for a future she could barely picture — because no one had shown her what was possible yet. The strength it took to advocate in a language that wasn’t her first, in a system she didn’t grow up in, while trying to protect my joy and my identity... I see it all now as a mother myself.
