An unforgettable stop in Grand Blanc!
The University of Michigan Symphony Band continued its tour at Grand Blanc High School, hosted by directors Mr. Austin Tripp and Mr. John Klee.
Students from GBHS participated in an engaging clinic led by Professor Jason Fettig, working through challenging and exciting repertoire with focus and enthusiasm. Before the concert, everyone gathered for a relaxed taco and nacho bar dinner—a perfect way to connect before taking the stage.
Featured here is the Symphony Band’s performance of John Williams’ Far and Away, a cinematic work composed for the 1992 film of the same name. The music captures the drama and sweeping beauty of the immigrant experience in 19th-century America.
GBHS students joined U-M musicians on stage for the evening concert, making for a collaborative and memorable night. We also recorded a few one-on-one interviews—stay tuned for more from this special stop!
