One tip to make them easier and lighter is to use the help of different forces rather than pure muscle strength. Here is an example of a rotating lift, where the use of centrifugal force is very helpful. Learn to feel it and trust the connection with your partner, and the sky's the limit for what you can do. Have fun!
Off ice:
To succeed in this trick the flier must have a strong and controlled core. You use many of the same muscles as you would when planking. Practice planks and side planks to activate and strengthen your core, as well as shoulder blade push ups to help you stabilize when flying.
Check the grip with your pair - it should be monkey grip!
