The key to a good spiral with change of position within the line, is control & off-ice practice!
First, after warming up, work on your flexibility and strength; why not set a goal of getting your leg to 135 degrees or higher?! If you can maintain this position, it will be much easier to get under each other’s legs during the change of position.
Next, work on balance and control, with something like a lunge-to-spiral sequence. This requires good core strength and concentration. Even though you have to go under someone’s leg, your upper body shouldn’t move much at all; it’s really more about the arm change. For more on this, see the next step!
