@nexxicesr has some tips and tricks to help master any turn series! ⛸🇨🇦
Off ice-
Turns can be practised off the ice as well! Focus on using the proper knee and ankle rhythm, and mimic how you would want to do the turns on the ice, off the ice.
On ice-
Always start by warming up with basics. Simple inside and outside edges to warm up the knees and ankles, and focusing on having good run on the blade.
Next try putting two turns together, practising the turns on both feet. This can be done at a slower speed, really focusing on relaxing the arms, knees and ankles, while keeping the core strong.
Once comfortable, have fun experimenting with putting three different turns together to create a turn series. If they are turns from your program, make sure to do them on pattern, and focus on gradually adding more speed and flow!
Turns are tough, but with practise and patience you’ll be sure to see improvements! 😊
