Now that you have the keys to improve individually, here’s how to practice group lifts with your team.
The idea is to find the right timing: different timings won’t give you an effective take-off and it will be harder for the lifting skaters.
Get in position, squeeze your arms, and bend all together. If you are the person being lifted, engage your muscles as you jump into the air as your teammates lift you up. Once you’re up there, keep your core, arms, and legs strong.
Going up from a pre-lift position (where you’re already off the ice) you’ll need to use your upper body strength just like in push-ups. Again, find the right momentum with your group. It is normal for it to take several tries to find the correct timing with your group.
