#stjosephs130th history class, here's a bit more info on BarrowNeuro...
📜 John Green, MD, is often called the first neurosurgeon in Arizona. A World War II veteran from Chicago, Dr. Green moved to Phoenix in 1947 and dreamed of building a neurological institute to cover the needs of those who called the Southwest home. Headquartered in Phoenix, Dr. Green flew all over the northern reaches of the state to care for head injuries, and drove to Tucson twice a month to conduct surgeries there. His care of Julia Barrow in the 1950s led coal magnate Charles Barrow to donate money for the establishment of Barrow Neurological Institute. Dr. Green became Barrow’s first medical director — a title he held for more than 25 years!
