Fresno files its first legal action under the new Wage Protection Program to protect alleged wage theft for local workers.
The case is against Pinnacle Hospitality and Development and contractor Juan Moreno for severe wage theft allegations the city attorney says.
According to the complaint, workers say they did work remodeling and renovating the Holiday Inn Express on Kathryn near Golden State between April of 2023 and September of 2024.
It says Moreno set out to recruit vulnerable, underprivileged workers who were promised varying rates, from the number of rooms and floors they tiled to under minimum wage.
They say they worked six days a week, for 8 to 12 hours a day and were not paid overtime.
