#WomenWhoAdvocate✨, we introduce scientist and advocate Dr. Shirley Malcom!
In her remarks at the 2022 Innovation Park 329 Building dedication, Dr. Malcom emphasized, “This dedication is not about me alone. It symbolizes a broader imperative: the empowerment of women to embrace their true selves within inclusive scientific communities, the validation of aspirations for students of color, and the recognition of STEM’s universal value for marginalized individuals.”
Dr. Shirley Malcom, a 1974 alumna of Eberly College of Science, made history as the first woman and woman of color to hold the position of Dean at the college. Throughout her career, she has been a tireless advocate for women and women of color in science, higher education, and academia.
