For five years, Penn State students have participated in City Semester Pittsburgh, focusing on urban sustainability and community engagement. The program, run by the Franco Harris Pittsburgh Center at Penn State, includes a three-credit course, an internship with a community partner, and field experience. 🌱🌿 Madeleine Ryan, a landscape architecture major and part of the 2024 cohort, is interning with Riverlife, a nonprofit enhancing Pittsburgh's riverfronts through collaboration with property owners, officials, and community groups, while gaining valuable insights into the systems supporting urban development and appreciating Riverlife's mission.
