Alexandria Rhoads, a @pennstate aerospace engineering student, reflects on how the Readiness Institute’s Summer Discovery program helped her grow as both a person and a student. When she joined the program’s very first cohort in 2021, she discovered that success isn’t just about grades or being involved in countless activities. Instead, she learned to prioritize self-care, follow her passions, and make meaningful contributions to her community. Since then, she’s flourished—mentoring new students, leading an engineering club, and recently earning a spot in the prestigious Brooke Owens Fellowship program. Since it began, Summer Discovery has welcomed nearly 225 students from across Pennsylvania, giving them hands-on experiences, workshops, and mentorship to help them create personalized paths to success.
