In September, officials announced a $20 million grant from the federal government would help complete the Alton Park connector, a trail to link some of Chattanooga's most disconnected communities. The money, from the Environmental Protection Agency, came after nearly a decade of work and would have funded a section of the path from the Borough 33 apartments on West 33rd Street to Clifton Hills Elementary School.
