Chattanooga’s Veterans Bridge, normally gray and beige in hue, has received a pop of color in the form of an art installation that celebrates various aspects of the city. With Veterans Bridge serving as the official detour route during the closure, the city wanted to add a public art display, making the path more engaging for pedestrians and cyclists traveling between downtown and the North Shore, said Carmen Davis, senior director of Chattanooga Office of Arts, Culture and Creative Economy. The city issued an open call and selected New York City-based artist Ebony Bolt to answer it.
