When Richard Brown stepped into Engel Stadium as a young baseball player in the 1960s, "it was almost like walking into magic," he said. The historic stadium on Third Street has seen the likes of baseball legends Willie Mays, Hank Aaron and Satchel Paige step into its batter's box and toe its rubber. "When we would get inside that old stadium, we would take the dirt from the infield and put it in the pockets of our uniform, thinking it would help us hit," Brown said.
