There is a level of anonymity to living in a big city. When an editor friend of mine visited from Atlanta, we discussed an article one of her writers had published about crying in bars around town. I wondered if the same thing could be done in a smaller city where the chances of running into someone you know while silently sobbing bar side are exponentially higher. After talking to waitresses, friends and strangers, I have compiled a list of places for you to gather in the velvet embrace of darkness and, as singer Patsy Cline would say, "fall to pieces." Also, being surrounded by good food and drink while crying doesn't hurt either.
