In case you missed it, last week saw the newest stripe added to the worldwide Climate Stripes – and it was redder than ever.❗️ 2024 was the hottest year on record, and the first to pass 1.5C warming – the threshold that world leaders aimed to avoid as part of the 2015 Paris Agreement. With blue lines indicating colder than average years and red ones showing warmer spells, the overall trend of the stripes from 1850 to the present day underlines the true nature of the change we are facing. “We have the ability to turn things around,” said Professor Ed Hawkins, the creator of the Stripes. “We are causing this problem – which means we have the ability to solve it.” And, working together, that’s what we want to do: aiming for a brighter, greener future for all. 🌱 #RaceAgainstClimateChange #ShowYourStripes
