#Menendez Brothers, Erik and Lyle Menendez, have been resentenced in the case related to the 1989 murders of their parents, Jose and Kitty Menendez.

According to abcnews, on Tuesday, they were resentenced to 50 years to life in prison, after already serving 35 years. They were initially sentenced to life without the possibility of parole. With the resentencing, they will now be eligible for parole. Since the brothers were under 26 years old at the time of their crimes, they would be eligible for parole under California’s youthful offender law.

Several of the brothers’ relatives were called to the stand to speak out in their defense. Their cousin, Anamaria Baralt, pleaded for their release and said, “They are very different men. Their transformation is remarkable.”
