Jethrobovingdon was tasked with charting the progress of driver aids through three generations of #BMW M3s. First was the timeless E46, the earliest model with any form of dynamic stability control (DSC). Then came the E92, which featured M Dynamic Mode (MDM), a new intermediary setting for the DSC. Finally, we have the current G80 M3 in basic rear-drive, manual-gearbox configuration. The six-speed ’box and two driven wheels link the new car directly to the E46, but its electronics are of an entirely different order. The G80 supplements MDM with a traction-control system you can tailor to your needs and the subtle differences of the road or track you’re negotiating.
