#PolicyProfile: “My passion for U.S. policy began to take shape when I was a junior in high school in Minneapolis. George Floyd was murdered a few miles from my school — a moment that deeply impacted me and our nation. At the time, I didn’t fully understand our system of policing, but when I arrived at PrincetonSPIA and took “Policing, Civil Rights, and Social Change” with Professor Udi Ofer, everything clicked. That class opened my eyes to the history and complexities of our criminal justice system and inspired my academic work. For my second junior paper, I collaborated with two classmates through the Policy Advocacy Clinic to review policies in the federal government and in all 50 states on racial profiling, police use of force, felony disenfranchisement, drug criminalization, and related issues.
