It’s
#NationalNursingWeek and we’re celebrating our extraordinary 2025 DAISY award winners who demonstrate excellence in nursing each and every day.
Fun fact: Did you know that The DAISY Foundation traditionally serves cinnamon rolls or cinnamon treats to honor nurses and the patient care they provide?
The tradition stems from a personal connection to Patrick Barnes, for whom the DAISY Awards are named, who had lost his appetite during his illness. One day, his father brought a cinnamon roll, and Patrick ate the entire thing, later requesting that his father bring more for all the nurses. The Barnes family wanted to honor Patrick's memory and the nurses who cared for him, so they created The DAISY Award and made cinnamon rolls a part of the ceremony.
