Swipe through to learn how >>> It abandoned conventional tubular spaceframe chassis technology in favour of an aircraft-style monocoque. The word means ‘single-shell’ or ‘single-hull’ in French. The benefits were incredible increases in strength, rigidity and safety, for less space –the Type 25 chassis was a staggering 3.5x stiffer than the Type 24 it replaced but weighed only half as much. A true revolutionary design, it was wildly successful, winning two Drivers Championships and two Constructors Championships, and set the benchmark for single seater chassis design as we know it today.
