Outgoing Portland Commissioner Rene Gonzalez might sue the city over what he calls a slow response to physical threats and potentially dangerous incidents that he and other elected officials have faced. The allegation is part of a tort claim Gonzalez filed the week before Christmas, seeking reimbursement for damages from an alleged arson that occurred outside the commissioner’s house a year ago and remains unsolved. Beyond the reimbursement, Gonzalez said he wants to call attention to the slow response by the city, the press and the state’s political leadership to an increase in threats and incidents aimed at Portland public officials over the past four years, he told The Oregonian/OregonLive.
